James Burroughs, Programme Manager at NHS Neuron

James is a Programme Manager at Neuron, leading the delivery of digital solutions designed to support Workforce teams across the NHS. Working closely with colleagues in partner Trusts, his team develops and rigorously tests software, automation and data tools that help make everyday working life simpler and more efficient.

A key part of James' role is creating space for open and honest conversations about technology and AI. By addressing concerns early and explaining how digital tools can remove administrative burden, rather than replace roles, he helps teams feel confident and supported through change.

James said: "By working directly with Workforce teams, I get to understand the real pressures they face and design technology that removes administrative burden. Turning first-hand experiences into practical, intuitive tools that make day-to-day work smoother is a huge win."

"We've also been having open conversations about the fears and opportunities surrounding technology and AI. These discussions are helping us shape how we support change and keep our focus firmly on the people we work with."

This year marks an important milestone for James and the team with the launch of Axon, Neuron's new Establishment Module. Intended to be the first of many modules, it provides a clear view of the roles that exist across an organisation, who is in them, and any staffing changes taking place. This will help Trusts plan, manage and understand their workforce much more effectively.

James said: "The platform is extremely scalable and gives us the foundation to expand into a wide range of solutions across multiple workforce functions."
